Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from July 16, 2021 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

UM, if you are referencing my Ross theme, I guess there is, sorta? I grew up within miles of T-Town and Spectrum, so they have a hometown appeal to me. Not the everyday, mass produced Ross stuff though, just the "higest" end stuff. They are pretty "rare", as Ross did not make many upper end handbuilt frames/bikes

I figure I'm not the only one who was curious:

"After their Australian success with a cover version of UK band Mungo Jerry’s In The Summertime earlier in the same year, The Mixtures released this original song written in a similar vein, which again topped the Australian charts and was a hit in the UK as well.

The Pushbike Song has often been mistaken for a Mungo Jerry record because of its stylistic similarity with In The Summertime. Mungo Jerry did finally release a version of the song, but not until 1990 (see below)."
