Hi Jan and Chresti, here for now.

Hi WR!

Hi all, can't believe I missed tiptoe through the tulips
  Swag For Life Member 10:13am
WR:

the usual. support conferences with customers for 4 hours starting on the hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MHLee, there are a few more renditions coming up, but this was indeed a really nice one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, I just found out that "Wie van de drie" presented by Herman Emmink on Dutch TV was indeed an adaption (of 'To Tell The Truth")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am
chresti:

WR, my son was doing something similar for a lending outfit, and then another company.

@spodi Hello.
@Jan Ms. Henshaw along Lee Morse are among my favorites of the 20s. I'll have to listen to the archive.

Wow this is an extremely pretty piece.... also very delicate for the pre-microphone era... I was looking at how they do recordings like this the other day and they had ti shove a horn basically up to instrument.... I wonder if they are using Stroh violins
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am
Jan Turkenburg:

my thoughts too, MHLee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am
spodiodi:

sorry to hear about your headache, Jan hope it improves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am
MHLee:

Frederic appears to have recorded 12 songs between 1907 and 1913 listed on the wax cylinder archive.... that's about all i can find
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am
Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks Spodiodi. It's still doable. When I was younger it was worse, almost like migraine. I wouldn't have been able to endure any sound. But then again, back then I was too stubborn to seek the shade like I'm doing now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am
MHLee:

Interestingly multiple "Indian" songs

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am

Hi David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am

I'm hearing a Tip Toe Through The Tulips reference in the chorus of the Johnny and Jones song.

Spod, Chresti, WR et al. Great to be here.
Yeah, I was hearing that, too, Jan.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am

Yes, I heard some tiptoe tulips references, in another song that played earlier.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am

Nick Lucas played this live at age 72 for Tiny Tim's wedding on the Tonight Show... he really does a great job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am
StringOFperils:

I take no responsibility for your laptop shutting down, chresti. And neither do U1000, MHLee, David in London, or even spodiodi, He always rolls his eyes while whistling and looking at the ceiling; he just does that.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am
MHLee:

I've been weird about ordering deliveries recently because within two months i'll be moving... i'm hoping a russian package will arrive quickly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am
MHLee:

I have an infuser for t but am too cautious to order any deliveries
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am
MHLee:

Eddie Canter? Interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am
coelacanth∅:

this store's free delivery is 5 days (roughly)
- my main consideration is if i'll be home when it arrives. it could end up sitting by my door all day - or get stolen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am
David (in London):

I'm just having a cup of dokudami tea - the Japanese 'poison drawing tea' designed to cleanse and purify. Apparently different people react strongly to it - to some it tastes like urine, to others it's fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am
David (in London):

Loving this Georges Guetary, Jan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
MHLee:

A guy I knew made this russian tea... burned the throat... tasted a bit like cough medicine... but it also felt like it was opening up all the sinuses on the body
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
David (in London):

Thanks Jan, lots of fun today.
Later groovers.

Chromatic harmonica always makes me laugh a little. The perfect musical accompaniment to the Mitch Miller singers. Paracee-u-all later! Thanks Jan!

WR:

relistening. I wasn't aware of Pat Flowers before. According to the discogs listing he did some work with Fats Waller and when Waller died young, was encouraged by Wallers' management to try to be the new Fats Waller. Flowers is good but not Fats. Save the Bones was an early mild success for Nat King Cole.
  Swag For Life Member 11:22am
WR:

Got interrupted before gotvto end and deciding to start again from the beginning. This is a gem of a program with added level of Netherlands' relationship to tulips. Something (probably looking up the tiptoe song last Thursday) recently led me to Wikipedia article about Tulip mania.

  Swag For Life Member 11:53am
WR:

Yes no easily found info on Frederic H Potter & Chorus and their tune Valley Flower which may or may not be a Kerry Mills composition. Later when I have more time will see if can find anything.
