Here at the beginning, not sure how long I will last. Crazy work hours over the weekend and have not recovered yet.

We're ready! YEAH!

I’ll probably last an hour as I’m beat but we shall see. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Fading quicker than I thought. I’m going to put the phone down and listen. Have a good night everyone.

Take care Matt.

Glad you still have all your limbs

Ah, not alpha, and Austin buy has been played, so some flea market acquisitions.

Only little bit of blood loss, chain saw success...
Avatar 10:24pm
still b/p:

Up in a tree to get big damaged limb for someone the other day, nixed the chainsaw option in precarious angle/balance situation. What did I get for going the safe route? In gently dropping to the grass my sturdy, sharp, hungry, reliable, history-bearing, 25-years-owned packable woodframe saw, I broke it, and am inconsolable. Emotional blood loss.

Kia ora, Kris! Sounding good!

Oh hey there Pete! How's Auckland?
  10:27pm
Peter Mac:

Surprisingly mild for this time of year, weather-wise It's all good here.
Avatar 10:28pm
Kris Holmes:

It's been wetter than usual here, first real hot spell of the summer this week though

oh, nice! Love summer.

My NZ girlfriend is lamenting the hazards and nuisances of northeast US, beset by current regional onslaught of browntail moth caterpillars and their toxic rash-making hairs. She says nuthin'll gitcha in NZ outdoors. No ticks, no browntail moth caterpillars, no dangerous beasts.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
WR:

Ah still b/p, that sucks and surely unexpected, except you don't mention the height.
Avatar 10:35pm
still b/p:

A foolish 7 feet was drop distance, but oriented for successful flat landing, and in grass. Still bad idea for tool treatment, double-bad for value-proved and favored tool. My saw and I belong in an equipment handling/safety poster showing the WRRRRONG way.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:36pm
WR:

LOL, Kris, going to grab from the archive the reaction you had a couple weeks ago about the kitten being a keeper.
  10:38pm
Peter Mac:

still b/p - yeah NZers get a bit of a shock when they go overseas and encounter the dangers of US outdoors or same in Australia.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
WR:

This Ordells track is wack. Older doo wop style vocals with newer slick soul instrumentation and effects.
Avatar 10:43pm
Kris Holmes:

Ordells is a stunner, the strings!
Avatar 10:45pm
Kris Holmes:

So many things that can kill you here!!!
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
WR:

Yeah the strings and the electronic keyboard effects, used sparingly. In fact, will have to re-listen to try to determine if the strings are real or electronic.

I grew up in West Texas (Amarillo) and spent lots of time outside of the city. None of us kids got anything worse than wasp bites, and I got the worst of that in Dallas when running through a overgrown lot near some railroad tracks.

I do have extreme dislike and fear of snakes that wasn't so intense when I was a kid.

Now I never leave my apartment anyway... LOL.

Back to the music, didn't know that Eldridge Holmes Seahorn/Toussaint production. And they got it release on Atco.

still b/p:

Three years in West Texas and never saw a rattler in the wild, while oilfield workers saw 'em regularly and they got 'em by the bushel at one of the crazy Roundups in Big Spring just up the highway. Wouldn't have wanted an encounter in wrong circumstance, of course, but, c'mon, how about just a sighting, huh? A small dead dried scorpion on my windowsill was the closest I got to the area's dangerous/exotic prospects.

rattlers, water moccasin, scorpions. I have recollection of close encounters of all in my youth. Shudder.

One summer my son, at the time about 12 years old, stayed with my parents in Oklahoma. I flipped when I saw a photo of him and his cousin posing next to a "swimming hole" and in the background could see a huge snake swimming.

I'm more worried about piranha in North America fresh water.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Scott67:

Kris, not as bad as I was expecting. Every culture has an expression like that don't they?
Avatar 11:23pm
Kris Holmes:

Ha, yeah probably
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
WR:

OK, wikipedia says no piranha in North America.

Yeah, Scott, while "a vulgar expression" nothing harsh. I think Kris is locked into proper school teacher mode. On the other hand there are many other chinga expressions some of which can be very inflammatory in proper society.
Avatar 11:30pm
Kris Holmes:

There was a news article where they fished one out of a lake last week? Must have been released there?
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
WR:

Wikipedia may not be up to date, but it does mention that pacu, a fish related to piranha have been found. Searching I see incident in 2009 where there were piranha and 2015 with a pacu. Either way, seems that the image of piranha in the media is kinda like using Jaws as your base for understanding sharks.

It was bugging me because I thought there was a New Orleans band called Hot Chocolate, but now see they were Chocolate Milk.

Thanks for the tunes, Kris. In a couple of weeks you may be wishing for some rain to cool off those hot south Texas days.
