@Jesse, are they flying frogs? (see's the location). Daggnabbit!
Avatar 7:25pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

They may have been flying, it was too dark to confirm. Someone ate my microphone cable after sniffing around a little on both mics.
Avatar 7:27pm
northguineahills:

Well, they only live Malaysia and Indonesia. I've only had cats eat my cable (I still remember you, Lagerfeld [shakes fist])

Hey WR!
These were my favorite mics so I'm a little sad but I did get this weird recording so that's a little consolation

My roommates and I adopted two cats. on my roomate's suggestion, we went w/ fashion moguls, as we were the least fashionable people possible (one was walking back from K-town supermarket w/ long hair and and long beard, a torn tee and jorts w/ flipflops, and was told where the nearest homeless shelter was located (he was pulling 6 figures salary at the time). Oh, the cats, were Miu-Miu and Lagerfeld. The later one played fetch better then most dogs.

I still haven't found my field recorder. All of my possessions were put in suitcases and garbage bags. It's hard to fish through them w/o making a mess. The only thing to record here anyways are shrieking children at the pool.

I had a rough day at school today with the lack of hearing and lack of air conditioning! Do you have tinnitus at all? Apparently there is not much that can be done about it.

Avatar 8:29pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@chromaphone, I'm super lucky to never have had tinnitus, I a big fear obviously..
Avatar 8:30pm
northguineahills:

@chromaphone: When I was 13, while in a soccer match, a rather large keeper fell on my head, and the pressure blew out my tympannic membrane, leaving me deaf in my left ear. I used to amaze kids at the pool by stay underwater for 20 mins, by breathing through my ear, as I left it above water. Then my father told me to stop doing it, as any scarring, would hurt my hearing. To this day, I'm half deaf in my left ear, but my pitch perception and ability to recognize sounds, are still better in said ear.
Avatar 8:33pm
northguineahills:

As someone who usually wore earplugs at any musical event (I made exceptions for MBV and Merzbow, and to hear them in their glory), I have moderate tinnitus. I can't sleep w/o white noise.
Avatar 8:34pm
chromaphone:

@northguinea - fascinating. I am a musician and feeling a lot of trepidation as live music events start to pop up again. I'll definitely be wearing ear plugs more.
Avatar 8:35pm
chromaphone:

Strangely I notice the tinnitus more when air conditioners are running. Must not be white noise.
Avatar 8:37pm
northguineahills:

@chromophone: You know it's a good soundsystem, if you walk out w/ no ringing in your ears. There used to be a club, Love, in SoHo, that used to play bass heavy lound music. They had impeccable sound equipment. I wouldn't need ear plugs, or have ringing in my ears after. Now a hardcore punk show half as well, I'd be nearly deag until the morning.

The A/C fan is the only way I can sleep. In Brooklyn, I would have it on even in the winter.

WR:

Thank you Jesse. Didn't mean to nudge you, just when I looked it up and saw you didn't list it, was sharing what i found. Curious thing about bandcamp, there are often pages for the artist as well as for the label and a release listed in both views may not be associated. Twice in recent months I bought something twice because I would see on the one bandcamp page that I didn't own it and then later to find that in fact that I did. Poor record keeping on my part but surprising to find the gaps. Also some releases are with more than one company, typically because of USA vs. EU/UK distribution rights. Not to say I never unintentionally bought a physical recordibg twice.
Avatar 9:00pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Oh yeah no that's a great thing to do and I hadn't thought to link that before for some reason. I'll try to keep doing it if I can, maybe not so much in the third set because that's a little hectic but we'll see. In my limited experience, labels own the rights to sell albums and usually give the artist a few copies to sell on their own and either let artists also sell online by permission or sometimes the artist just does anyway.
