Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from May 21, 2021 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

By the way, the BDC people are awesome, I ordered the Psychic Driving Treatment CD through Bandcamp and there was a slight delay, not so much I even noticed, but they threw in the Neptune Is A Power Station CD (a Darren Brown side project) and the BDC Solar Mountain CD (so now I have two) for free to make up for it.

Good old Axiom, they could do no wrong in the early 1990s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm

Laswell was an unstoppable force in the turn of the millennium. Not everything was great (that goddamned Celtic Dub album!) but just the sheer volume and diversity of what he was doing.

Rich in Washington:

I think my first foray on WFMUland was featuring several tracks from this whole series on Tony Coulter's show, way back in 2012 or something.

"If all of your radio friends drove their show over a cliff, would you do it too?" "Yeah, mom! But first I'd find the Discogs listing and put it on the playlist!"

It's funny, I remember an interview where Albini mocked Gira for lacking the nuance of his stuff. I wonder if that piece was meant as a pisstake/one-upsmanship of stuff like Time Is Money (Bastard)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm
Rich in Washington:

exactly, ultra. I used to read both those artist's writings in publications like Forced Exposure, a magazine that had this kind of dumb nihilistic edge and a lot of that shit has not aged well.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Rich in Washington:

  Swag For Life Member 10:50pm
WR:

he's referring to my streak of owning a recording and never having listened to it. Don't worry, there are many more.

Man those guys were so flat reading their script.

My neighbor is making some weird jibbering vocal noises that are melding with this nicely. I'll feel like a dick if I find out he's having a catastrophic stroke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm

I'm lying. I'd be openly pleased.
  Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
