One commentator did make the case they should be called the Elxixers - not Medicine: They aren't just to treat pathologies or disorders - they are for vision & purpose ! I take his point. 	9:23am Dano59: I had a good friend who went into a "business venture" with an ayahuasca cult, got off the grid and disappeared, leaving personal debts and a lot of people behind. He was a true believer and was talking to me (pre-entry) about boundless opportunities for riches and life enrichment. I'm still sad for him and along with other friends I just want to hear from him.

	9:26am nathan: @DJGuin yeah, my first few experiences with that and LSD weren't great either. it definitely takes a little practice and the right setting. but I suppose different drugs work for different people, and fwiw my friend had a very positive experience with his ayahuasca "shaman" -- it sounds like it wasn't too hokey and they mostly just goofed around making art and playing instruments (after the part where you throw up). Anyway, drug or not, I hope you find something that helps. The world's a depressing place right now!

	9:36am OldGringo: Interesting board this morning. I'm possibly a tad older, and my parents (mom still going at 92) were of the WW2 generation whose therapy consisted of "suck it up and move on". This was ultimately unhelpful for me, and I am just starting to dig out from under it. Better late than never., though- and WFMU ain't half bad at getting you out of your own head.

Set & Setting are of course considered the most fundamental considerations for psychedelic use: Set being your mindset & real feelings, for psychedelics are boundary dissolvers that will bring up or make apparent what is in the unconcscious - & Setting where you are & expose yourself to, since psychedelics open wider the filter of your senses & the mind - for hours... How this squares with improving your mood & outlook when they aren't great - I admit is a pressing question !... Some say that it's the bad trips you learn from ! Just as psychoanalysis dredging up hard things can be useful - & just telling the therapist you're fine is wasting time... Myself - I concluded that continuing to take LSD was like therapy - with no therapist ! & I stopped... Mushrooms - psilocybin - I think is known for making people giggly - & I suspect this correlates to the current evidence in research... Ayahuasca can refer to any number of concoctions, hopefully Traditional with some time-honored wisdom - but the main pwerful psychoactive is DMT. I have been in no hurry for a DMY experience ! But what is said by all is it is an extremely intense & altering visionary experience that takes you completely away to what is described as another dimension ! People speak of communing with the Others - machine elves, aliens, the ancestors... & - unlike LSD & the others - it ends fairly quickly ! What effect this may have on overall mental & emotional health - frankly I do wonder. & not just academically, but personally <3. Sorry for the length here. Enuff.

The audio isn't great but after a minute or two you get used to it. I have the sneaking feeling that some real estate mogul has their eye on whatever plot of land the station is on. That whole area of Jersey City is one giant waterfront co-op at this point for the most part. Anything remotely resembling "public space" is actually private property complete with public access hours/etc.

He was a true believer and was talking to me (pre-entry) about boundless opportunities for riches and life enrichment. I'm still sad for him and along with other friends I just want to hear from him.

	9:26am nathan: @DJGuin yeah, my first few experiences with that and LSD weren't great either. it definitely takes a little practice and the right setting. but I suppose different drugs work for different people, and fwiw my friend had a very positive experience with his ayahuasca "shaman" -- it sounds like it wasn't too hokey and they mostly just goofed around making art and playing instruments (after the part where you throw up). Anyway, drug or not, I hope you find something that helps. The world's a depressing place right now!

Set & Setting are of course considered the most fundamental considerations for psychedelic use: Set being your mindset & real feelings, for psychedelics are boundary dissolvers that will bring up or make apparent what is in the unconcscious - & Setting where you are & expose yourself to, since psychedelics open wider the filter of your senses & the mind - for hours... How this squares with improving your mood & outlook when they aren't great - I admit is a pressing question !... Some say that it's the bad trips you learn from ! Just as psychoanalysis dredging up hard things can be useful - & just telling the therapist you're fine is wasting time... Myself - I concluded that continuing to take LSD was like therapy - with no therapist ! & I stopped... Mushrooms - psilocybin - I think is known for making people giggly - & I suspect this correlates to the current evidence in research... Ayahuasca can refer to any number of concoctions, hopefully Traditional with some time-honored wisdom - but the main pwerful psychoactive is DMT. I have been in no hurry for a DMY experience ! But what is said by all is it is an extremely intense & altering visionary experience that takes you completely away to what is described as another dimension ! People speak of communing with the Others - machine elves, aliens, the ancestors... & - unlike LSD & the others - it ends fairly quickly ! What effect this may have on overall mental & emotional health - frankly I do wonder. & not just academically, but personally <3. Sorry for the length here. Enuff.
