The new wannabe-scary Sabrina on Netflix doesn’t have enough Salem, because what’s-her-name from Mad Men is supposedly monstrously allergic to cats, and they use a real cat. So he’s rarely if ever in the same shot with her. Lots of great actors wasted on mediocre writing in that show.

@Avril, I’m not necessarily opposed to any “reboot” but yeah a lot of them are freakin’ terrible. At best they should take something that was originally terrible and improve on it, like Lost in Space. The Netflix remake is nothing all that great but it’s certainly better than the original. Plus Parker Posey gets to chew massive amounts of Vancouver scenery with aplomb as Dr. Smith. She is awesome.

Columbo without Peter Falk is like a lake without water. Therefore, no on a Columbo reboot. Falk so inhabited that role, that no actor can come close. Steve Martin was bad enough trying to be Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther.

@ヱkョ: yes of course. It was more my issue than yours, this aversion towards doing old shows again (and again). I do not know about "Lost in Space" (I lack a lot of SF knowledge, mostly not by choice) although Parker Posey makes everything interesting, so I can totally understand. But I'm afraid following how the sausage is made tv shows-wise (and all the "content" direction other media formats took) made me regret to no end investing a lot of my youthful years following tv. or maybe (I actually am certain it is) it's a blessing. I'd rather think about all the actual art present in the world to enjoy.

Krys O.:

Colin Moulding on Ten Feet Tall: Colin: “Now and again one should be able to throw a spanner in the works for a bit of devilment. This song was my spanner in 1979.

“I suppose it was my reaction to the ‘Quirk, Jerk, Spiky, Crikey, Start, Stop’ of our previous form. Back then, we had a particular aversion to anything that sounded remotely ‘west coast’ and cries for me to do this song as a solo record came from some quarters. Now of course, having tried every style under the sun, all of us can listen to it now and wonder what all the fuss was about.

“I was contacted at the time by the representatives of the Italian film director Michaelangelo Antonioni, who wanted to use the song in his forthcoming film. Whether it got there or not, I never found out. It will probably turn up on the late night BBC2 spot reserved for foreign films, for people to discover when they come back from the pub a bit blurry eyed.”

Andy: “Why did we stop there? I just can't remember. Well, here we are, up to our skinny ties recording the Drums And Wires album, and just being a tad daring by working in an acoustic powered song, courtesy of our Colin Ivor. This is one of the nicest quality recording we've done, but we did have the genius fingers of Hugh Padgham flitting across the faders. Virgin asked us to record an electric version for U.S. single release. Which we did. But it never had the bittersweet charm of this one.”

@Krys, not surprising. Especially for teenage boys like me when I first saw it on VHS.

Of course, this being an 80s flick made by dudes, it’s all about focusing on the naked lady space vampire. The naked male space vampires are an afterthought. I’m not sure you even get any naked male vampire butt AT ALL.
