slugluv1313: Yeah! - & ☽Moon past Full but still in ♏︎Scorpio...
Have asked people what I should do to learn keyboard - & been told there are 'simple' Bartok pieces for lessons... Really ?! Totally intimidated.

Hello, Bethany and the gang!

I've heard that also about Bartók - perhaps _For Children_? I would appreciate people's recommendations for "beginner" Bartók scores, if there is such a thing
  8:23pm
headcleaner:

or even just pieces of compositions

(another) Patrick in Hoboken:

Love the show Bethany!
  8:25pm
bunyan:

I don't know how "beginner" you mean, but his progressive exercises, _Mikrokosmos_ isn't too scary until about volume 3...
  8:26pm
headcleaner:

worth a shot, bunyan!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I guess the idea is he has the roots in Folk Musics - & it can keep you engaged enuff with interesting stuff @ that level...
  8:27pm
bunyan:

You can hear all six volumes of Mikrokosmos on Youtube. Volume 6 ends with the Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm!

Tremendous respect for all the pollinators out there.

I see that a few people have been added tutorials and practice guides for at least the early volumes. I hope you'll find that of some help.

Kósa seems to be an interesting figture - was wondering about what he was up to the year this piece was composed (1943) - seems he had a Jewish background but managed not to get sent to the camps? Though he wasn't allowed to perform in public?

Hello ! Over @ Wikipedia you can see Bela's High school picture, he had really cool hair, almost 'Richard Hell' territory. He and Webern died the same year -same month(!) Sad time for groundbreaking classical composers.. Wonder if they hung out much?
  8:36pm
bunyan:

I've wondered if the actual recordings Kodaly and Bartok made have survived. I've pictured them roaming the Balkans and North Africa asking people to "sing real loud" into their gramophone...
  8:37pm
headcleaner:

"respect for the pollinators. but sorry that our species is genociding yours, so that a small handful of companies can make a tidy profit for a couple of years. it's the anthropocene and hey, these things happen"

bunyan:

We should be bothered more about the fact that a geological epoch needs to be named for us...

You have to admit, Violet Archer is just TOO good a name to use only once.
