	12:54pm northguineahills: Actually met Iva Bittova a few times. When in town she used to hang at the Share party (still going on, but now in Brooklyn), The site seems to be down right now.
	12:57pm northguineahills: @Dr Jazz: I asked my grandmother to bring a crate of records for me for xmas (I was 20) on the plane. She did. It was the last time I saw her when she was lucid before dementia took her. So, that Giuffre rekkid has special meaning to me.

	1:08pm northguineahills: @Michael: it's a shame, I really got to know her personally as a young adult. We had a converstion where she admitted she was racist, and knew it was wrong, but, she grew up that way, and hoped I wouldn't be so. She gave me an afghan blanket as well, and I use it as my bedding to this day. When I saw her four years later, she didn't even know who my father was (her son). dementia's a bitch, and now my mother has it.

	1:11pm doctorjazz: My mom had dementia when she passed (quite a while before, actually), and it indeed is a bitch. Sorry to hear it NGH.

	1:12pm StringOFperils: My dad is has dementia as well, but the silver lining in that, for me at least, is that I can at least hope that it has liberated him to some degree from my mother.
	🥁 1:12pm βrian: My dad could vividly recall being sunk in the Coral Sea, but he had no idea who I was.
	1:15pm HyperDose: How similar is dementia to Alzheimer's? My grandpa had Alzheimer's and watching someone go from a formidable aeronautical engineer to the mind of a frightened child is heartbreaking.
	1:15pm northguineahills: Thanks, all, it's really stressing out my father (at least he's mentally fine). My mother used to run a charity and be the accountant for their church. She can do neither now (she also used to do other volunteer positions).

	1:19pm northguineahills: @Hyperdose: My paternal grandmother had Alzheiner's, my mother has dementia, so I'm boned. Alzheimer's is a definite diagnosis, dementia is just based on symptoms. My mother is still going through tests for diagnosis. (sorry my tangent made everything dark, thanks for the tunes, Irene).
	1:19pm StringOFperils: @hyperdose > Dementia is an older, broader term for losing one's wits, but seems now to be interchangeable with the term Alzheimer's Disease, a more specific set of conditions that are not yet fully known or entirely understood.

I always thought that was wrong and still bothers me to this day. @ngh No need for apologies. The accu has been a great sense of comfort and support when life starts to feel like too much. I'm so sorry your dear mother is going through it. If you need to vent I'm only an email away.

We had a converstion where she admitted she was racist, and knew it was wrong, but, she grew up that way, and hoped I wouldn't be so. She gave me an afghan blanket as well, and I use it as my bedding to this day. When I saw her four years later, she didn't even know who my father was (her son). dementia's a bitch, and now my mother has it.

My mother is still going through tests for diagnosis. (sorry my tangent made everything dark, thanks for the tunes, Irene).
