@Dr Jazz: I asked my grandmother to bring a crate of records for me for xmas (I was 20) on the plane. She did. It was the last time I saw her when she was lucid before dementia took her. So, that Giuffre rekkid has special meaning to me.

@Michael: it's a shame, I really got to know her personally as a young adult. We had a converstion where she admitted she was racist, and knew it was wrong, but, she grew up that way, and hoped I wouldn't be so. She gave me an afghan blanket as well, and I use it as my bedding to this day. When I saw her four years later, she didn't even know who my father was (her son). dementia's a bitch, and now my mother has it.

How similar is dementia to Alzheimer's? My grandpa had Alzheimer's and watching someone go from a formidable aeronautical engineer to the mind of a frightened child is heartbreaking.

Thanks, all, it's really stressing out my father (at least he's mentally fine). My mother used to run a charity and be the accountant for their church. She can do neither now (she also used to do other volunteer positions).

@Hyperdose: My paternal grandmother had Alzheiner's, my mother has dementia, so I'm boned. Alzheimer's is a definite diagnosis, dementia is just based on symptoms. My mother is still going through tests for diagnosis. (sorry my tangent made everything dark, thanks for the tunes, Irene).

@SoP Thank you for the clarification. My grandfather had it when I was young. Aside from him losing it, I remember they chose not to tell him. I always thought that was wrong and still bothers me to this day.

Sean, both are great films but we had problems with how the Chicago 7 story was presented. Judas and The Black Messiah seemed a bit more historically accurate.

@Michael: when i first moved to NYC in 2000, the Voice was how I found my favorite shows and parties. By 2005, I rarely picked it up, as I got all of the info from word of mouth , email, or text.
