@DJpeterDE & @duke: this music was often labeled "underground." Does that also make us "undies?"

Hi, @listener james, hi @fred!

I am down for this Yamashita survey! He was on a fair number of Western labels but hoping to hear some Japanese records? PS Japanese pronunciation guide -- flat vowels, no syllable stress: yah-mah-shih-tah. Locals might crush the last two syllables together so it becomes yah-mah-shtah

@alanr looking forward to when the undies get over!

@WR: short vowel on the "i" and no stress on either syllable. vih-jay. (You can get away with stressing first syllable: VIH-jay)

It took me a long time to remember to pronounce DJpeterDE as "du-jay" with no stress.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:21am

I heard a streamed concert at the VT Jazz Center last night: Kris Davis and Craig Taborn, each solo. The Davis set sounded almost completely composed, the Taborn was (and seemed) completely improvised. Awesome performances. At the end, Taborn had a bloody finger, and one of the piano keys was broken, but he kept insisting that nothing had really happened.
Avatar 🥁 9:48am
Listener Gregory:

Surprisingly, when I check the Center's website, the video window still seems there, and it is playable (vtjazz.org), so when Jeff is done, you might see if the concert is still up and viewable. (And make a donation, if you can.)
