Threemoons, I respectfully suggest you go back to the archives to listen to the Gen Ken piece. I had written "Already, this set is waoooghhh! Fabio is deep in the WFMU shelves, moving crates, reaching behind the records to get that dusty one that fell off to the back, giving us the most choice cuts!" but it was all one piece!

@Miss G I need to go grocery shopping! And yeah, that was an outright meal on my part--last of the beans so lots of yummy meaty things in the bottom of the Tupperware....I need more olives in the house. I MISS the self-serve olive bars in Astoria; I wonder if they will ever come back.

Rained like hell here in Astoria earlier, but it's also been on a sort of "slow drizzle with spurts" all day today. Cold and gloomy. This is the time of year where it's too warm for the heat to kick in in the building but still chilly enough to be uncomfortable.

The Oscar:

FYI: The Criterion Channel currently has John Parker's Dementia, which is an INCREDIBLE zero-budget expressionist horror movie from the '50s. Imagine if Maya Deren was hired to make an Ed Wood-style exploitation film, and you're in the right ballpark. Kinda like Carnival of Souls, but completely wordless. Also features a score by George Antheil and a live performance by Shorty Rogers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm

re: Criterion Two weeks ago Fabio played Miles Davis and y'all were talking about him, so I watched Elevator to the Gallows/Ascenseur pour l'échafaud 1958 dir. Louis Malle to watch the great Jeanne Moreau walk around B&W Paris with Miles Davis playing.

(It's slightly better known as Daughter of Horror, a re-edit which added narration by Ed McMahon! This is the original, fully silent version).
