	1:42pm doctorjazz: Sad I can't clicky-star the show again once I've clicky-starred it already.
	1:42pm Dean: First heard RtF in the mid-'70s, Where Have I Known You Before, after having already been exposed to the delights of Birds of Fire, for which, indeed, I was prepared by Close to the Edge, Yessongs, Tales from Topographic Oceans, and other timeless prog monuments. Other great fusion bands to my ear include Gary Boyle's marvelous Isotope, and Dutch band Solution. PFM's Jet Lag, too, seems to have straddled the border between prog and fusion. Then there are the so-called Krautrock bands like Release Music Orchestra that bent prog in the direction of fusion, as did Denmark's Secret Oyster. Saw RtF during the Romantic Warrior tour at LA's Music Center. Stevie Wonder made a surprise appearance.

	1:57pm Irene Trudel: Several years ago, when Soundcheck was a live program (I'm their regular mix engineer), we had a "Smackdown" segment on whether Fusion was good or bad. Al DiMeola actually called in on his own to argue that fusion=good.

	2:01pm Marshland: Only time I saw Chick was in 2006, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. It was sold out, but I managed to get a seat on the stage itself, behind the band, when they released those extra stage tickets at the last moment :)
	2:02pm doctorjazz: Back then, to my mind, there was "good fusion" (Miles, Ornette) and "bad fusion" (Spyrogyra, Yellow Jackets), which morphed into smooth jazz. Where you placed on the spectrum determined how seriously you were taken. Boxing artists in categories does limit one and close the ears and mind, I'm learning in my old age.

	2:06pm Dean: Somewhere out there in the vast archives of YouTube is a remix of Kenny G. on soprano saxophone with a high note that lasts something like a full minute or more, purely artificial treatment of one of his middling records. But it's the perfect mash-up of reed man Kenny G. and the other Kenny G.

	2:10pm Irene Trudel: Marshland, maybe the last time we saw Chick wasin 2016 at The Blue Note birthday residency in NYC, at the Mahavishnu Meets Return to Forever show. We had seats right next to Chick's electronic keyboard setup. So amazing to see his hands close up.

	2:27pm Phil in Framingham: Never saw chick cornea in concert. But been listening to RTF, the solo stuff (children’s songs..) stuff with al di miola, fleck, mcfarren.. damn, he was good!
	2:27pm doctorjazz: I got both doses, my wife gets dose 2 this Saturday. Wish we could find it for my 2 daughters (but they're in their 20s, so rightfully should defer to those at more risk. The younger one is a teacher, but her Jersey town is all on line/Virtual classes, so no exposure there).
	2:32pm doctorjazz: Irene @ 1:57. I really miss that live Soundcheck show, used to do my best to catch it every afternoon. Did WNYC (foolishly) kill it, or did it just get to be too much for John?
	2:36pm Irene Trudel: No, it was a management decision, doctorjazz. It's now a staff of three-- me, John and our producer Caryn. John's been hosting remote sessions but I really miss doing those live band streams. Maybe by next summer again we'll be back at it.
	2:45pm doctorjazz: Pity, I like the news coverage there, but how many talking heads do you need to analyze how bad things in the country are? Wouldn't a sprinkling of life-affirming art/music help offset it?

	2:01pm Marshland: Only time I saw Chick was in 2006, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. It was sold out, but I managed to get a seat on the stage itself, behind the band, when they released those extra stage tickets at the last moment :)
	2:02pm doctorjazz: Back then, to my mind, there was "good fusion" (Miles, Ornette) and "bad fusion" (Spyrogyra, Yellow Jackets), which morphed into smooth jazz. Where you placed on the spectrum determined how seriously you were taken. Boxing artists in categories does limit one and close the ears and mind, I'm learning in my old age.

	2:27pm doctorjazz: I got both doses, my wife gets dose 2 this Saturday. Wish we could find it for my 2 daughters (but they're in their 20s, so rightfully should defer to those at more risk. The younger one is a teacher, but her Jersey town is all on line/Virtual classes, so no exposure there).

	2:36pm Irene Trudel: No, it was a management decision, doctorjazz. It's now a staff of three-- me, John and our producer Caryn. John's been hosting remote sessions but I really miss doing those live band streams. Maybe by next summer again we'll be back at it.
