so interesting to hear these tracks that i'm more familiar with as totally psychedelic funk songs. i'll bet you is one of my favorite funkadelic songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
Funky16Corners:

What's interesting is that Funkadelic was about the 4th or 5th act to record that song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm

Two more versions of 'I'll Bet You' coming in the show today.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm

@TDK - All in Detroit. Their late 50s stuff was done in NJ as far as I know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Funky16Corners:

Hey WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
Funky16Corners:

This was not only a Top 10 R&B hit but made it well into the Pop Top 20 as well

Clinton's auto-bio was a good read. learned a lot. probably should reread it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm

I'll have to check that out. BTW, George is the gent on the right in the picture above
🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:32pm

and look forward to finding a "not authorized " tell all bio as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm
Matt from New Orleans:

The Parliaments did a session for Berry Gordy In the early 60s and a TP was made but a 45 was never released. I think the single on APT was recorded in Manhattan.

Doug Schulkind:

Parliamentary Procedures!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm

Hey Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm

TDK60:

I recall the Parliament Testify track on the radio, was a teen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
Funky16Corners:

@SquigY0 - I think so, but not too far. They were perhaps a little too pop/rock for the R&B charts, but they made great records
Avatar 3:48pm
SquigY0:

ah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
Matt from New Orleans:

I really dig Pat Lewis’ version of this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Brian in UK:

They were certainly prolific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Funky16Corners:

Best use of the phrase "insufficient funds" on a soul 45...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
StringOFperils:

This pivotal time-period Parliament(s) material is really interesting to hear, paralleling shifts you might hear in stuff Sylvester Stewart or Whitfield-Strong were working through at the same time. A real crucible for mutation, those months and years. Cooking up the future. It IS shocking/MYSTIFYING that this stuff wasn't charting higher all over North America.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Brian in UK:

Good to see that George likes bracketed titles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Was this recorded in Chicago?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
doctorjazz:

Hey all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm

Avatar 4:27pm
Vincent The Soul Chef:

Oh yeah, Ric Tic was great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Funky16Corners:

I think Ric-Tic was eventually swallowed whole by Motown, who took the artists they wanted, Like Edwin Starr, and canned the rest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm

Here's their discography: www.discogs.com...
