Hi there Doug and drumma peoples. Had to take a break from work to say Im enjoyingn these most excellent mozambiques. The similarites between Pello's & NYC-style are very evident. This is not so true when comparing Eduardo Davidson's Pachanga vs. NY-style pachanga

Ground beef (mince) with grated or finally chopped onion, a Tb or two of Worcestershire sauce, some catsup, mixed and molded into patties. Fry 'em up, add onions and mushrooms to the skillet, beef broth, and simmer. I usually snoop around for a recipe to follow, but I don't have an exclusive one.

@Doug absolutely no worries!!! Least of our troubles. Also on a gentle Pittsburgh note, go easy Joanne Rogers, beloved classical pianist and life partner of the sweetest man on earth

Doug Schulkind:

@Jim
Joanne Rogers was no less a saint than her adored spouse. I just read a lovely tribute to Joanne on Facebook by the great pianist Matthew Shipp of all people. Fred and Joanne were universally loved.

Jim:

@Doug that's such a wonderful thing to imagine, Shipp sending up the tribute. They were truly phenomenal folx and I'm grateful to have even barely rubbed elbows with them during my brief Squirrel Hill tenure. Hope the 412 is decent for you and yrs these days. (Hey, sidenote: finally using the chat! off to make an official account to receive my sought-after badges!)

Matt Shipp explained that he was on a panel assembled by ASCAP that bestowed an award on Joanne Rogers. She ended up sending Matt a trove of recordings by Johnny Costa, the pianist/music director for Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Sweet story.

The name of this label seems to translate to Discs of the Oak. Is that what they were made of??

(Now with an actual account) @Doug that story is so terrific! Costa absolutely achieved a feel for that show. It's a lightness you gotta love. / This Trovesi is bliss

After the Tree of Life massacre here, Trump came a few days later to everyone's disgust. There was a rally and march to protest his visit. Milling around with my assembled neighbors waiting for the march to commence, I found myself standing in front of the Rogers home. It was a poignant but powerful moment.

@Doug: You moved to Squirrel Hill in 2011? (I have no concept of time anymore).

I lived in Pittsburgh in 1977 (I was 1).
