| I just can't listen to Ray Charles anymore without thinking of his performing at the Republican National Convention. Every four years, they trot ol' Ray out to get the thing started with his rollicking rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Maybe Ray didn't invest his money wisely and needs the work. Maybe Ray is senile and doesn't know where he is. Maybe Ray is even more out of it than that and he's a republican. Whatever the excuse, how can the guy who made a hit out of "Let's Go Get Stoned" have any self respect and still mug for the folks who turned "getting stoned" into an evil worthy of defeating communism and punishing welfare scum.
